Tierney Sneed is a senior writer for CNN Politics, covering the courts, the Justice Department and issues concerning the judiciary before Congress.
Sneed’s work has included coverage of Supreme Court nomination fights, explainer pieces on pivotal legal questions and analysis of Attorney General Merrick Garland’s record at the Justice Department. She’s followed key Biden administration legal fights, including legal challenges to federal Covid-19 policies as well as the Justice Department battles over voting rights, from the trial through the US Supreme Court level. She also reports on judicial confirmations in the Senate, and on the legal issues affecting Congress’ and the Justice Department’s January 6 investigations.
Prior to CNN, Sneed was a reporter for Talking Points Memo. There, she covered the courts, Congress, the 2016 Russian election meddling probes, voting rights, and health care policy and litigation. She started her journalism career as an editor and then a reporter at US News and World Report.
Sneed was born and raised in Florida. She attended Georgetown University, where she studied English and history.
