Ryan Struyk is a senior producer for State of the Union with Jake Tapper and Dana Bash on Sunday mornings in Washington, focused on writing interview questions for headliner political guests and researching current events shaping national American politics.
Struyk was previously a data reporter and mobile producer for the CNN Politics digital team, where he wrote data-driven stories on the day’s top news, produced the CNN Politics mobile app and worked on drafting and analyzing CNN’s public opinion polling.
Before joining CNN in 2017, Struyk worked as a political reporter and researcher at ABC News in Washington covering public opinion polling, campaign finance, the delegate process and other breaking news stories during the 2016 presidential election.
In 2015, Struyk covered the Idaho state legislature for the Associated Press in Boise. He also worked for Langer Research Associates in New York, conducting the ABC News/Washington Post poll during the 2014 midterm elections.
Struyk was also an adjunct journalism professor at Calvin University in 2021.
Struyk was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Calvin University in 2014 with degrees in mathematics and political science.
