Rebecca Wright is an award-winning Senior Field Producer for CNN, based at the network’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.
She is responsible for producing key stories from the region, and has covered breaking news on the Hong Kong protests and the Thai cave rescue. She also played an instrumental role in the Trump-Kim summit in Singapore, and has produced environmental documentaries on the Great Barrier Reef and the Borneo fires. Wright has also covered the Rohingya crisis extensively, reporting from Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh and Rakhine State in Myanmar.
Before joining CNN in 2012, Wright was a producer for the BBC in London for more than six years working across both television and radio.
Wright has won multiple awards for her work, including a Royal Television Society award for the Hong Kong protest coverage, ContentAsia and Society for News Design awards for the Borneo is Burning special, and two Asia Academy Creative Awards for stories on the Great Barrier Reef and the Sri Lanka terror attacks.
Wright studied English Literature at Newcastle University, where she was News Editor of the student newspaper The Courier. She then joined the BBC news trainee graduate scheme which included a scholarship for a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism Studies at Cardiff University.
