Nick Watt is a CNN national correspondent based in Los Angeles, and an anchor on CNN International.

Watt regularly reports on breaking news in the West. He has covered the issue homelessness extensively, including an investigation into why a large parcel of land in Los Angeles, which is supposed to house homeless veterans, does not in fact house homeless veterans. Watt was one of CNN’s primary reporters covering the COVI-19 pandemic, filing multiple reports every day on the impact of the virus across the United States.

Watt’s work also includes an investigation into horse deaths on Californian race tracks, the Trump administration’s battles with the Golden State, wildfires and border issues.

Prior to joining CNN in 2018, Watt was a correspondent with ABC in Los Angeles. Prior to that he was based in London, also with ABC. He reported extensively from Afghanistan and Iraq.

Watt’s work has been recognized with two Emmy awards, the first for his work as a producer in Darfur, Sudan, and the second for “Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story,” for his reporting from Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004.

Watt has a master’s degree in modern history from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. His first job was as a reporter with the Southampton Press newspaper in New York. He joined ABC’s London bureau in 1997 as a desk assistant and tape librarian.
