Meara Erdozain is Senior Vice President of Programming for CNN International. Based at the network’s headquarters in Atlanta, she oversees news programming on CNN International, directs the network editorially and shapes CNNI’s coverage of major international news stories, live events and breaking news.

Erdozain leads show teams across CNN’s international programming hubs in Abu Dhabi, Atlanta, London and New York and works closely with CNN/U.S programming teams and CNN Digital on international news coverage and initiatives. She drives strategic planning for the network, alongside other members of CNNI’s senior executive team.

Under her leadership, CNN International has won many prestigious journalism awards for its international news coverage including a 2020 Royal Television Society (RTS) Award in the Breaking News category for the network’s coverage of the storming of Hong Kong’s Legislative Council by protesters; a 2020 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award for CNN’s coverage of the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi; a 2019 Edward R. Murrow Award for the network’s Shadow Over Europe investigation into the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe; the RTS Award for Best Breaking News Coverage for Zimbabwe: Robert Mugabe Steps Down (2019); four 2018 News and Documentary Emmy Awards for reporting across Iraq and Syria; and a 2017 George Foster Peabody Award for the fall of ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

Erdozain joined CNNI in 2001 as a London-based writer and moved quickly into the role of Supervising Producer. Before relocating to Atlanta in 2012, she was the Executive Editor of CNN’s global business programming.

Erdozain is a graduate of the prestigious Betsy Magness Leadership Institute, the premier leadership development program for senior-level women in the U.S. cable telecommunications industry.

She earned a BA (Hons) in English Literature from Oxford University.
