Lauren Lee is an award-winning journalist and producer with CNN International Productions, based in Atlanta. As the co-lead producer for the acclaimed docu-series African Voices Changemakers, she crafts compelling long-form TV and digital content that spotlights inspiring individuals across Africa.
A proud graduate of Kent State University with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Pan-African Studies, Lee’s media journey began early. While at KSU, she contributed as a production assistant on the History Channel’s This Week in History: Kent State Anti-War Protest Turns into a Battlefield.
Her passion for storytelling led her to Detroit’s WXYZ-TV (ABC), where she excelled as a writer for the Emmy-winning noon newscast and served as an Associate and Field Producer for major events like the Detroit Grand Prix. During her time there, she collaborated with Florine Mark, producing the popular series Ask Florine and managing her public relations efforts.
In 2011, Lee joined CNN, where she made her mark as a producer with CNN Special Projects, crafting sponsored and branded content for a decade. She also played a key role as lead producer for CNN’s Impact Your World initiative. Her work has earned numerous accolades, including contributing to CNN’s Peabody Award-winning coverage of the Arab Spring, a NAMIC Vision Award for Breakthrough Women, and a Webby Gold Anthem Award for Champions for Change.
Beyond her production work, Lee actively contributes to CNN’s International Diversity Council and led a strategic team focused on expanding CNN’s presence in African markets. She also serves on WBD Atlanta’s BOLD BEYOND Mentorship Program planning committee, helping employees connect with leaders and grow their careers through workshops and marketing initiatives.
Outside of her professional life, Lee co-wrote and produced the film Why Do Men Cheat? In her spare time, she cherishes moments with her adult daughter and passionately advocates for Lupus awareness, a cause close to her heart as a fighter of the invisible disease for over a decade.
