Lauren Kent is a Senior News Desk Reporter based in London. She covers breaking news and features across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She focuses on conflict, geopolitics and diplomacy.
She has written extensively about the war in Ukraine, the October 7 attacks against Israel, the wars in Gaza and Lebanon, NATO and international diplomacy. Kent has also covered climate change, the coronavirus pandemic, Brexit, human rights, gender equality and terror attacks.
She previously worked as a Senior News Editor on CNN’s international desk and produced multi-platform content in the field, covering major international events including NATO summits, the COP26 climate conference and various European elections.
She was recognized with both an Emmy award and a duPont-Columbia award as part of the CNN reporting teams on the ground in Ukraine and along the Finnish-Russian border following the Russian invasion.
The US-native first joined CNN in Atlanta in 2017 and has since worked across CNN’s international newsgathering teams in various writing, editing and production roles in London.

Kent holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and broadcast journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a master’s degree in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
