Jessie Gretener is a News Desk Producer based in London. She contributes to CNN’s breaking news and newsgathering operations across the EMEA region for television and digital platforms.
Prior to this role, Gretener worked as a line producer for flagship CNN International programmes in London and Abu Dhabi, outputting more than 1000 hours of live television. During this time she spearheaded the launch of a new show, contributed to Emmy award winning breaking news coverage, oversaw countless interviews with world leaders, and played a vital role in the network’s live programming during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gretener first joined CNN in 2018 at the age of 20, working as a producer for Christiane Amanpour. Over the past decade, she has lived in five cities across three continents. Before joining CNN, she worked for the BBC in London and Australia’s Seven Network in Sydney.
Gretener holds a bachelor’s degree in Multi-Platform Production from Charles Sturt University and a Master of Human Rights degree from Curtin University, graduating in the top 5% of her cohort. In 2023, she also completed The Walkley Foundation for Journalism Leadership Program.
She specializes in sexual and reproductive health and rights, with a Graduate Certificate of Sexology from Curtin University. She is a trained sex and relationship educator and is also currently certifying as a somatic sex and relationship coach.
