Jerome Taylor is Director of News at CNN International, where he helps to lead coverage of the company’s global news operations.
Based at CNN’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong, Taylor oversees a diverse team of reporters, producers, editors and bureaus producing coverage from across the region.
Under CNN’s follow-the-sun news model, he also plays a key role in overseeing all international news in Asia daytime hours as well as overnight domestic news from the United States.
He joined CNN in 2023 as Senior News Editor for Asia Pacific, spearheading digital coverage for major news events and enterprise content, including the Israel-Hamas war for which he was part of the CNN team that received an Emmy for their role in the initial coverage.
Before joining CNN, Taylor spent a decade at Agence France-Presse where he reported from multiple countries across the Asia-Pacific region, including postings as Hong Kong and Taiwan bureau chief and Southeast Asia correspondent in Bangkok.
Prior to that he spent eight years working for The Independent newspaper in London, both on the domestic and foreign desks, including pioneering press access to Britain’s once closed Court of Protection and leaving the newspaper as Religious Affairs correspondent.
A British national, he studied history at the University of York.
