Jeffrey Kopp is a Field Producer for CNN, based in the network’s San Francisco bureau.
He reports, writes, shoots, and edits original stories for the web and TV, focusing on the West Coast, the climate crisis, health, and LGBTQ issues.
Kopp produced on-the-ground, breaking news coverage of the 2023 Maui wildfires, the deadliest wildfires on American soil in over a century.
He reported and produced one of CNN’s most-watched stories ever on abortion rights, featuring a woman who defended a clinic from protestors and broadcast her days on TikTok.
Kopp also covered the anti-drag movement of the early 2020s, including the debut of San Francisco’s — and the nation’s — first drag laureate.
He has reported on the climate crisis at Lake Mead, violence against the AAPI community in Oakland during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rise of autonomous vehicles in San Francisco.
Fluent in Spanish, Kopp joined CNN in 2016 as an intern at CNN en Español’s New York bureau.
He grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and earned a Bachelor’s degree from New York University (NYU).
