Camila DeChalus is a reporter covering the White House, based in the Washington DC bureau.
Camila joined CNN in 2023 after covering Capitol Hill and some of the most pressing issues facing the country for The Washington Post.
Prior to that, she previously worked at Business Insider where she reported on Congress, political campaigns and legal affairs since 2021.
At Insider, Camila was part of a team of journalists that produced “Conflicted Congress,” an investigative project that exposed how many members of Congress face possible conflicts of interest around their investments and stock trades. The series ultimately led to lawmakers introducing several pieces of legislation to ban individual stock trading and won a 2022 Sunshine Award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
Before joining Insider, Camila was a homeland security and immigration reporter at CQ Roll Call.
Camila is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and a board member of the National Association of Black Journalists political task force. She currently lives in DC with her husband and dog.
