Anna Bahney is a writer for CNN covering investments and real estate, focusing on investments in traditional, alternative, real estate and cryptocurrency markets.
Prior to joining CNN, Bahney launched financial coverage at Mic and broke housing news during the financial crisis as the real estate reporter for USA Today. During nearly a decade with The New York Times, her coverage ranged from features on real estate, youth culture and travel to reporting from ground zero on September 11th, 2001.
In her time at CNN, Bahney has also reported on consumer finance, including the unprecedented Equifax data breach, and financial technology, with an emphasis on tools used and created by Millennials. She has led the coverage of young people’s changing approach to work and retirement, including the FIRE (financial independence / retire early) movement.
Bahney is a graduate of Emory University and the Columbia School of Journalism, where she was a fellow at the Columbia Journalism Review. Originally from Nebraska, she now lives with her husband and three children in Washington, D.C.
