Alaka Williams serves as Senior Vice President of US Networks Human Resources for Warner Bros Discovery. In this role, she is directly responsible for HR leadership of the company’s US-based Networks and News (CNN, HGTV, Food Network, Discovery, OWN, TLC, ID, TCM, TNETs, etc.).
In the strategic business partner role, her responsibilities include providing organizational guidance, collaboration and performance counsel to numerous Leaders, and business units. Facilitating change and transition through the assessment, design, and execution of key company priorities, while remaining in touch with employee engagement is her core strength. Prior to her current role, Williams served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Discovery/Scripps Networks.
Williams arrived at Scripps Networks Interactive in 2010 after eight years with Live Nation as both Director of Human Resources and Director of Employee Relations. She also served as a Human Resources Manager for Clear Channel Communications. She began her career as a Regional Human resources manager for KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc.
Williams was selected to attend the WICT Senior Executive Summit at Stanford University. She is also a member of WICT’s Global Board of Directors, East Tennessee Boys and Girls Club, and Girl Talk Inc. Williams has been recognized by the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications for her commitment to fostering diversity. She is a proud graduate of NAMIC’s 2016 Executive Leadership Development Program, at UVA’s Darden School of Business and one of the organization’s 2016 Luminaries. Williams was also recognized as one of Cablefax’s Most Influential Minorities in Cable 2016-2022.
