Currently, Sangal is responsible for all live coverage across CNN Digital, providing real-time updates and meaningful analysis to millions of daily CNN readers on a wide array of stories. She has covered multiple US federal elections, the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, international diplomatic meetings like G20, the Olympics and the global coronavirus pandemic.
Sangal first joined CNN as an intern in Washington, DC, for the political unit in 2016, where she covered the 2016 presidential election. After her internship, she was a producer at Digiday, covering the intersection of business and technology, and helped the podcast win the Jesse H. Neal Award. Sangal returned to CNN in 2019, and since then, she has held a variety of roles spanning TV, social and digital.
Sangal has won multiple accolades for her work, including a Webby and an Editor & Publisher (EPPY) award.
Born and raised in India, she received her bachelor’s degree from Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi and her master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.
