Adam Pourahmadi is a multiplatform producer with CNN International based in the network’s Abu Dhabi bureau. He produces stories for TV, digital and social platforms.
Pourahmadi reports on political and cultural news from the Middle East with a focus on Iran. He produces and writes on CNN International’s flagship Middle East show Connect the World with Becky Anderson, which often includes travel and field production. He has reported on nuclear negotiations with Iran, the heart-breaking story of Anousheh Ashoori’s time spent in an Iranian prison, along with regional geo-politcs.
Prior to working in Abu Dhabi, Pourahmadi was based in New York City, producing and reporting long-form mini-documentaries focused on a range of complex issues through on-the-ground reporting. He has covered the story of one woman’s efforts to tackle Ohio’s opioid crisis and interviewed coal miners transitioning to work in solar energy in Kentucky. He also worked with CNN’s international correspondents to produce mini-documentaries for CNN’s Facebook Watch show, ‘Go There’, which covers a range of global issues from climate change in Greenland to the conflict in Syria.
Prior to joining CNN in 2019, Adam served as a producer at VICE News and Al Jazeera English. Adam grew up in DeKalb, Illinois and received a Master’s degree in Middle East Politics from the University of Oxford, St. Antony’s College.
