UConn is back on top.
The most storied program in women’s college basketball won its 12th national championship on Sunday, dethroning South Carolina 82-59. No other school has more titles.
Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong both scored 24 points for the Huskies, who led by 10 points at halftime and 20 after the third quarter. Paige Bueckers added 17 points and six rebounds.
The game was a rematch of the 2022 national championship, which went South Carolina’s way. But UConn routed the Gamecocks earlier this season and did it again on Sunday.
This is UConn’s first national championship since 2016.
