Ronan Farrow, the journalist who won a Pulitzer Prize for his work exposing sexual assault allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, will release his new book in October.
“Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators,” is scheduled to be released on October 15, according to a listing that was recently posted to Amazon.
The book is described in the listing as “both a spy thriller and a meticulous work of investigative journalism.” It promises to reveal “devastating new stories about the rampant abuse of power.”
“This is the untold story of the exotic tactics of surveillance and intimidation deployed by wealthy and connected men to threaten journalists, evade accountability, and silence victims of abuse- and it’s the story of the women who risked everything to expose the truth and spark a global movement,” the book’s Amazon listing said.
Weinstein was accused of multiple instances of sexual assault in reporting done by Farrow and The New York Times. He currently faces felony charges, including one count of first-degree rape and another count of third-degree rape. Weinstein has plead not guilty to the charges.
Publisher Little, Brown and Company announced in May 2018 that it would release a book written by Farrow.
“Despite the enormity of the conversation his reporting helped ignite, some of the most astonishing disclosures about what he uncovered are still to come,” Little, Brown publisher Reagan Arthur said in a statement at the time.
A person familiar with the book deal told CNN at the time that one of the disclosures will involve Farrow’s work with NBC.
Ever since Farrow published his explosive Weinstein reporting in The New Yorker in October 2017, questions have swirled about why it was not published at NBC where Farrow had initially had started working on the story.
In “Catch and Kill,” Farrow is expected to detail his interactions with NBC executives. In September 2018, Farrow accused NBC executives of releasing a memo that contained “numerous false or misleading statements” about his reporting.
Andy Lack, the chairman of NBC News, has disputed that the allegation that news network hindered or tried to kill Farrow’s reporting on Weinstein. NBC has characterized the reporting Farrow presented to the network as not-yet ready for broadcast.
