The comedian – who sells out arenas across the US – is set to host the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.
Also an actor and best-selling author, this year he sold out a four-show run at Madison Square Garden. He will host the event from Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on Monday, August 26.
The show will pay tribute to music’s biggest stars and fans will celebrate the year’s most iconic videos with electrifying performances, viral moments and a new, first-of-its-kind immersive fan experience.
Maniscalco announced the gig on Tuesday night’s episode of “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“We’re thrilled to have the incredibly talented Sebastian Maniscalco as this year’s VMA host,” said Bruce Gillmer, MTV VMA executive producer. “Sebastian is on FIRE right now and his comedic spin on relatable topics will make this year’s show truly unforgettable.”
The Los Angeles based comic was named the 2018 Billboard “Comedian of the Year” and was included on Forbes’ 2017 and 2018 list of the world’s highest paid comedians.
His “Stay Hungry” tour is now streaming on Netflix.
Maniscalco will also appear in the upcoming movie, “The Irishman,” directed by Martin Scorsese, and starring Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci.
