Seth Moulton, a three-term congressman from Massachusetts, ended his presidential campaign on Friday, August 23, and said that he would seek re-election to Congress.

Moulton is a Marine Corps veteran who served four tours in Iraq. He announced his presidential aspirations in April.

"I am running because I am a patriot, because I believe in this country and because I have never wanted to sit on the sidelines when it comes to serving it," Moulton said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Moulton has seen a raised national profile in recent years as he tried — and failed — to oust Nancy Pelosi from House Democratic leadership. He later voted for Pelosi's speakership after Democrats retook the House in 2018.

Moulton was born in Salem, Massachusetts, on October 24, 1978. He posted this baby photo to Facebook, calling it his "big head" phase. "Is this what a new generation of leadership looks like?" he joked.

Moulton, right, served four tours in Iraq while with the US Marine Corps, and he received a Bronze Star with valor for heroic actions in combat. "The greatest honor of my life was to lead these men in my platoon, even though it was a war that I and they disagreed with," he told The Boston Globe in 2014.
