A Netflix comedy film featuring Felicity Huffman in a starring role won’t be hitting the streaming platform on its previously scheduled release date, a source with knowledge of the matter tells CNN.
“Otherhood,” about three mothers who move from the suburbs to New York City so they can reconnect with their children, was set to premiere on Netflix on April 26.
Angela Bassett and Patricia Arquette also star in the movie, which was filmed last summer in New York City.
While it is not uncommon for film release dates to shift, news of the film’s push comes one day after the “American Crime” actress entered her plea in a vast college admissions scam case.
On Monday, Huffman pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud, stemming from a $15,000 payment she made to facilitate cheating for her daughter before her daughter took the SATs, according to federal prosecutors.
In a statement apologizing for her participation in the scheme, Huffman said, “I am in full acceptance of my guilt, and with deep regret and shame over what I have done, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions.”
Huffman, best known for her role in “Desperate Housewives,” will next appear in Netflix’s Ava DuVernay-helmed drama “When They See Us,” about the Central Park Five. The series will launch on May 31.
