We are anonymous. We hack for freedom. We wear a mask because it’s not the individual who matters, it's the actions we take.
We believe you should have the right to live without being monitored by your government. Sometimes governments forget their place in the world.
We hack to remind them.
So this one time...I hacked a Nazi forum. Me and some buddies, we pretended to be skinheads online -- got them to really believe in us, make us leaders of the group.
Then we got admin rights to the site, called the cops on their meetings and took down their page.
It started during Arab Spring. Government sympathizers tried to install spyware on pro-democracy activists' computers – that way they could monitor them.
I analyzed their computers to help them figure out if they were being spied on.
Government actors were trying to track their every move… their lives were at risk.
Very, very bad things can happen to very courageous people. It’s not my day job, but if I don’t do it, who will?
