Brad Lendon is the Senior News Desk Reporter, Global Military Affairs for CNN International, based in Seoul, South Korea. He explores and explains crucial military matters to a global audience, with a special focus on Asian powers.

Prior to this role, Lendon was a Senior Producer for CNN Digital based in Hong Kong working across digital programming and alerting for mobile, social and desktop platforms.

Throughout his 17 years at CNN, Lendon has written extensively about China’s military buildup in the South China Sea, including during a rare island flyover with the US Navy; China’s navy and its unprecedented modernization; and China’s relationship with other major Asian powers, such as the United States, Japan and India.

Lendon originally joined CNN in 2004 as a copy editor, later holding roles as a content producer and homepage producer covering domestic news at CNN’s Atlanta headquarters.

Prior to CNN, Lendon spent 20 years serving in editor roles at newspapers including the Honolulu Advertiser, The Cincinnati Enquirer, The Dayton Daily News, The Palm Beach Post, and The Press Enterprise. He led coverage of some of the world’s most unprecedented military events including the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Dayton Accords peace agreement to end the Bosnian War in 1995, and the first Gulf War in 1990.

Lendon started in journalism in 1982 as a copy editor for the Pacific Stars and Stripes in Tokyo, where he covered President Regan’s tour of the Korean Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Lendon holds a degree in Journalism from The Ohio State University.
