Andrew Torgan is the editor of CNN’s Webby Award-winning 5 Things newsletter and CNN’s Weekly News Quiz. He also writes 5 Things' Sunday edition.

Andrew Torgan is the editor of CNN’s Webby Award-winning 5 Things newsletter and CNN’s Weekly News Quiz. He also writes 5 Things’ Sunday edition.

Torgan joined CNN in 1996 as a producer to help launch CNNfn.com, a pioneering digital news platform and companion website to CNN’s financial news cable network. In 2001, he joined CNN’s Business Desk as an editor and producer.

Prior to joining CNN, Torgan was a journalist covering the convergence of traditional media and the internet and an editor at a leading computer trade magazine. He also served as managing editor of the XPRIZE foundation.

Torgan was a member of the team that won an Alfred I. DuPont Award for coverage of the Southeast Asian Tsunami (2004), and George Foster Peabody Awards for coverage of Hurricane Katrina (2005), the Presidential Primary Campaigns and Debates (2008) and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico (2010).

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire.

A native of Rhode Island, Torgan is an authority on the Ocean State’s unique cuisine, including clam cakes, scungilli salad, coffee syrup and frozen lemonade.
