ES Setif won the African Champions League last season, while it also finished fifth in FIFA's Club World Cup in December.

Yacine Brahimi of Porto is one of Algeria's star players. Brahimi was born in France but opted to represent Algeria instead, with the likes of Nabil Bentaleb and Sofiane Feghouli also choosing to do the same.

France's World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane is of Algerian descent -- his parents emigrated to Paris from Algeria.
