Stosur's year? —
U.S. Open champion Samantha Stosur beat Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova to reach the semifinals of the French Open for the third time in four years.

Slovakian exits —
Cibulkova eliminated world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka in the fourth round but had no answer to the power of Stosur, who was French Open runner-up in 2010.

Tall order? —
Having beaten the shortest player on the WTA Tour, the Australian will next play one who stands only two inches taller than Cibulkova -- Italian 21st seed Sara Errani.

A day of firsts —
Errani reached her maiden grand slam semifinal after beating a top-10 player for the first time, winning in straight sets against Angelique Kerber of Germany.
