Americans really want to know how old Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson are and how much money they have.
According to Google trend data provided to CNN, the Internet buzz on the two latest entrants into the Republican 2016 presidential primary field has focused on their basic biographies.
The top searches on Carson, a retired Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon, in the last 24 hours were about him running for president, his wife, his political views, his quotes and his net worth.
The top questions searchers have asked about Carson, meanwhile, are how old he is (63), where he’s from (Detroit), where he lives now (Florida) whether he’s a Democrat (nope) and whether he’s a Christian (yes, he’s a Seventh-day Adventist).
As for Fiorina, the former Hewlett Packard executive, the top searches in the last 24 hours have been her net worth, her education, her biography, her daughter and her political views.
And the top questions about Fiorina in the past 24 hours have been whether she’s a Republican (she is) and her age (60).
Carson and Fiorina share one key attribute: Neither is very well known nationwide. Each begins their official campaign for the Republican nomination with a different trajectory: Carson seemingly on a down-swing; Fiorina, starting from scratch.
Carson had found some traction last fall and in 2015’s early months, developing a small following among Republicans and notching 10% support in most polls. But the latest CNN/ORC poll conducted April 16-19 found him with 4% support among Republican presidential contenders, his worst showing yet.
Fiorina, meanwhile, has generally landed in the low single digits. She registered at 2% support in the latest CNN/ORC poll.
