Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, on December 21, 1988, killing all 259 people on board and 11 people on the ground. The plane crashed in Lockerbie 38 minutes after taking off from London. Two Libyans -- Abdel Baset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi and Al Amin Khalifah Fhimah -- were tried for the bombing.
