A water tanker packed with explosives drove into a military checkpoint in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, killing at least 17 troops in the ensuing explosion, authorities said.
Another 26 troops were wounded in the attack on the checkpoint in Eesha in North Waziristan.
The tanker was carrying more than 500 kilograms (1,100 lbs) of explosives.
North Waziristan is one of seven districts in Pakistan's volatile tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
