Gas station attendants often work long hours on their feet for low wages. But most are eligible for overtime pay.

In a case in 2012, the Department of Labor found a chain of 14 Long Island gasoline stations had its employees working 84 to 114 hours a week, without overtime. The owners were ordered to pay $544,900 in back wages plus interest, to 35 employees.

Major chains are no exception. Since 2000, 7-Eleven has paid overtime back wages in at least 92 cases.
