Since the end of the recession in 2001 I don't see myself better off now. I am thankful that I have been gainfully employed for 4 years with the same company. However, I think my salary has increased an average of $1,000 per year over the past four years.

Not to mention I am a single mother raising my school-aged child alone. Over the years the bonuses that have always helped have slowly diminished to nothing. My weekly gasoline bill that was once $45 a week hit the highest point this summer to $80. Food prices are higher and so is the overall cost of living.

Makes a girl want to go find a husband just to have someone to split the bills with.
