Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist and science writer at CNN, where she regularly appears on both CNN and CNN International programs. She combines her expertise in atmospheric science with strong communication skills to make complex weather and environmental topics accessible to a broad audience.
Before joining CNN in June 2015, Allison served as both a meteorologist and science writer at local stations in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her career has included in-depth coverage of major weather events like hurricanes, blizzards, and wildfires, earning her an Emmy nomination for her detailed reporting on Hurricane Dorian’s impact on the Bahamas in 2019.
Chinchar graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, and the National Weather Association.
