"Crossing from Ethiopia into Kenya via Lake Turkana was the hardest part of the expedition to date," says a post on the pair's Facebook page during the Africa portion of their journey. "Six hundred kilometers without tarmac; eight days averaging less than 10 kilometers per hour; no showers; a lot of pushing!"

By the time the tuk tuk reached Chile, the two teachers had traveled the circumference of the Earth. South America proved to be problematic for the duo, due to multiple engine troubles that at one point even forced them to pull the tuk tuk through Peru.
