'President Joe Biden insisted he's staying in the race during an all staff call with his campaign this afternoon. That's what a source familiar with the call told CNN, who says Biden acknowledged that, quote, "the past few days have been tough," but double down saying, quote, "no one is pushing me out. I'm not leaving." Vice President Kamala Harris, who's dismissing calls to replace Biden, told the team she's following Biden's lead, the source said. Here's White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during a briefing today.

I cannot lay out something that would change the president's mind. He has been very clear, and he's going to continue to build on the unprecedented record that he's been able to lay out for the American people. That's his focus right now.

She blamed jet lag and a cold for Biden's debate performance last week, but called them explanations, not excuses. Biden is scheduled to meet with more than 20 Democratic governors today over their concerns. Other elected Democrats fear of staying on the ticket will hurt their chances of winning in November.

I'm going to cry because this is the place I was born and, I'm Jamaica's beloved around the world. And so for me right now, it's very emotional.

The dangerous Category 4 storm is one of the strongest to impact Jamaica in more than 15 years. Jamaica's prime minister has declared a nationwide curfew Wednesday from 6:00 am to 6 p.m. local time. A hurricane watch is also now in effect for part of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, where Beryl could make landfall on Thursday night or Friday morning. Several charities are actively distributing aid throughout the region, and if you'd like to help, go to cnn.com/impact or text 0 to 707070 to donate.

A federal judge blocks new protections against discrimination in health care for transgender Americans nationwide. He cited last week's Supreme Court ruling that weakened federal agencies regulatory power. The new rules were meant to prevent health care providers and insurers from getting federal funding if they discriminate against people seeking care on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation, and would have taken effect in two days. But the rules led to lawsuits, including from some Republican state attorneys general, who argued that the federal government overstepped its authority. CNN has reached out to the Department of Health and Human Services for comments on the ruling.

'Unidentified armed men have killed around 40 people in an attack on a village in insurgent-plagued central Mali. That's according to two local officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity. They didn't identify the attackers and no group has yet claimed responsibility. Reuters reports that violence has spiraled in West Africa central Sahel region, since jihadist groups linked to al-Qaeda and ISIS took root in Mali in 2012. The conflict has spread into Burkina Faso and Niger, killing thousands of people and displacing millions more.

Google's annual environment report says that the company's greenhouse gas emissions have soared 48% since 2019. The report came out yesterday and blamed the growth mainly on, quote, "increased data center energy consumption and supply chain emissions" and what needs a lot of powerful computers using tons of energy. Artificial intelligence like its tech rivals, Google has gone all in on investing in AI and started integrating it into some of its core products like Search and Google Assistant. The company had previously set a goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2030, but now calls that, quote "extremely ambitious." Google said it expects its total greenhouse gas emissions to continue to rise before falling, while the company seeks to invest in clean energy sources like wind and geothermal energy to power its data centers.
